Used for millennia, Chia Seeds are neutral in flavour and swell up in water. Try them with lime juice and a sweetener, stirred into a glass of water for a refreshing drink.
When water is added to Raw Chia Seeds they swell up forming a thick gel.
Chia Fresca
This drink is consumed by the 100 mile Ultra-marathon runners from the Tarahumara tribe of Mexico:
2 tsp Raw Chia Seeds
250ml (1 cup) water
Squeeze of fresh lemon or lime
Sweetener to taste if necessary
Combine dry Raw Chia Seeds with water in a small glass. Stir. Allow to stand for 10 minutes. Add fresh lemon or lime juice and a little sweetener to taste.
Chia Breakfast Pudding:
Soak a couple of tablespoons of Chia Seeds in a cup of almond or rice milk for a minimum of 10 minutes. Stir in some mashed berries or chopped bananas. Drizzle with a little sweetener and enjoy.
